It's tough for Australia to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a side that has achieved everything.

It needed as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their batters to maintain a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given a chance to deliver her newest gem.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

Whether this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the case for championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this knock followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in training, it has been a frustrating experience because I feel like I've had no rhythm at all," commented Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your competitive nature kick in and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her great strength - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and after that the right-hander was on her way.

"A chance to play and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the World Cup - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was dismissed the team required another 66 at one run per ball - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the assurance to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, if necessary, we are confident we can succeed."

That comment will be the last Australia's opponents at this World Cup should hear.

During the last week a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this success following success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was at that stage they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at a significant event.

So great is her will, she later said she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those fitness problems have delayed thoughts of retirement, this championship is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as leader.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
